Ordering custom boxes for the first time can feel like a big step, especially for a small candle or bakery brand. The good news is that you do not need a huge order to get started. This guide walks through what to expect, from the first sizing question to the day the boxes arrive.

Start with 100 units

At Modern Boxes the minimum order is 100 units. That makes a first run realistic for a small candle maker with one or two scents, or a local bakery testing a new gift box. You can start small, see how customers react, and reorder once you know what sells.

Measure your product first

The right box starts with the right size. For candles, measure the jar width and height. For bakery items, measure the tallest and widest item you plan to put inside, then leave a little room for an insert if you want one. Our box calculator helps you turn those numbers into a box size.

• Candles: jar width, jar height, and whether you want a lid or insert.
• Bakery: item length, width and height, plus how many pieces go in one box.
• Both: whether the box needs a window so customers can see the product.

Artwork and the digital proof

You can send your own artwork or ask for help. We offer free artwork proofing, and you receive a digital proof before anything is printed. Check the colors, text and spelling carefully on the proof, because production begins after you approve it.

Plate and die charges are included

Many first time buyers worry about hidden setup costs. Plate and die charges are one time costs and they are included in the quoted price, so the quote you approve is the quote you pay.

How long it takes

Production takes 16 to 18 business days after you approve the final artwork. Ground delivery then takes about 8 to 10 days. If you are planning around a launch or a busy season, work backwards from your date and approve your artwork early.
